Biographie
AMY LEE LAVOIE est une dramaturge lauréate et diplômée du programme d’écriture dramatique de l’École nationale de théâtre du Canada. Sa première pièce, Rabbit Rabbit, produite par Infinitheatre, lui a valu deux prix MECCA (meilleur texte et le prix de la révélation) Rabbit Rabbit a depuis été monté partout au Canada et aux États-Unis. Ses autres pièces incluent Me Happy (co-écrit avec Matthew Mackenzie/Summerworks Festival), Stopheart (Factory Theatre), Genetic Drift (Pi Theatre/Boca del Lupo), My Tom (Railtown Lab Series) et C’mon, Angie! (Touchstone Theatre/Leroy Street Theatre) qui a été salué comme « un théâtre important et viscéral qui change la vie. »
Elle a également été la rédactrice numérique en chef de la série dramatique Strange Empire de la CBC, qui a remporté un prix Gracie (Women’s Alliance Media) pour le meilleur site Web en reconnaissance de sa narration interactive.
Amy Lee et son mari/collègue écrivain Omari Newton, coécrivent présentement plusieurs projets dont une adaptation de Titus Andronicus intitulée Blackfly, une commande de Repercussion Theatre, ainsi qu’un scénario original, Kevin vs. Nicole, avec Our Lady Productions à Los Angeles.
Amy Lee Lavoie is an award-winning playwright and a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada’s Playwriting Program.
Her first play, Rabbit Rabbit, received its premiere production with Infinitheatre, earning Amy Lee two MECCA’s for Best Text and the Revelation Award. Rabbit Rabbit has since been produced across Canada and in the US.
Other plays include Me Happy (co-written with Matthew Mackenzie/Summerworks Festival), Stopheart (Factory Theatre) Genetic Drift (Pi Theatre/Boca del Lupo) My Tom (Railtown Lab Series) and C’mon, Angie! (Touchstone Theatre/Leroy Street Theatre) which was hailed as “visceral, important, life-changing theatre.”
Amy Lee was also the Head Digital Writer for the CBC drama Strange Empire, which won a Gracie Award (Women’s Alliance Media) for Best Website in recognition of its interactive storytelling.
Amy Lee is currently co-writing multiple projects with her husband/fellow writer Omari Newton. They include an adaptation of Titus Andronicus, commissioned by Repercussion Theatre, as well as an original screenplay, Kevin vs. Nicole, with Our Lady Productions in LA.
