Deborah Drakeford

Deborah est très heureuse d’être sur cette terre et très reconnaissante que le théâtre ait survécu à cette dernière période catastrophique. Comme le fait toujours le théâtre depuis des millénaires… Deb a la grande chance d’avoir travaillé partout au Canada, de la Colombie Britannique jusqu’à l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard. Elle est fière d’être membre de la compagnie ARC, une compagnie de théâtre indépendante basée à Toronto, depuis maintenant 17 ans. Elle est devenue co-directrice artistique de la compagnie en juillet 2020. Deb a joué dans plusieurs spectacles avec ARC, notamment A Kind of Alaska, The City, Bea, Moment, Pomona, Human Animals, Oil and, in this past spring, Gloria.

Ces autres crédits incluent The Penelopiad (Grand Theatre), Shirley Valentine (Thousand Islands  Playhouse), Portia’s Julius Caesar (Shakespeare in the Ruff), Innocence Lost et A Christmas  Carol (Soulpepper), Hedda Noir (Theatre Northwest), Same Time Next Year et Rabbit Hole  (Sudbury Theatre Centre). Deb a été nominée 8 fois pour les prix Doras à Toronto. Elle a aussi joué à la télévision, au cinéma, dans des livres audio, et plus récemment, dans Station Eleven de HBO. Elle est diplômée en éducation et enseigne au sein de plusieurs compagnies, entre autres au Young People’s Theatre, à Soulpepper, et pour le Toronto District School Board. Elle habite Toronto avec son mari, le comédien Oliver Dennis, et leurs enfants, Charlotte et Philip.

Deb is very pleased to be here and is so grateful that once again, Theatre has survived a  catastrophic time. As theatre always does… Deb has been lucky enough to work across Canada from BC to PEI. She is a proud member of ARC, a Toronto based indie theatre company, for the past 17 years.  Deb assumed the role of Co-Artistic Producer of ARC in July 2020. She has performed in many shows with them, including A Kind of Alaska, The City, Bea,  Moment, Pomona, Human Animals, Oil and, in this past spring, Gloria. Other fun credits include The The Penelopiad (Grand Theatre), Shirley Valentine (Thousand Islands  Playhouse), Portia’s Julius Caesar (Shakespeare in the Ruff), Innocence Lost and A Christmas  Carol (Soulpepper), Hedda Noir (Theatre Northwest), Same Time Next Year and Rabbit Hole  (both at Sudbury Theatre Centre). Deb has been Dora nominated 8 times (individual and  ensemble). She has also done tv, film, and audiobook recording, most recently appearing in HBO’s Station  Eleven. Deb holds a BEd and teaches for YPT, Soulpepper and for the TDSB. She makes her home in Toronto with her lovely husband, actor Oliver Dennis, and their two  amazing kids, Charlotte and Philip.
